Synopsis

Life can be very rewarding, but it can also be painfully overwhelming if we don’t understand the process or the need for healing. Healing! I’m not sick you say.

When we have been broken by life, we are in desperate need of repair. Childhood trauma, abandonment issues, rejection, family secrets, resentment, toxic relations, self-hate, self-destructive behaviors, anger, depression, sleep deprived and so many more I could list.  I’m very young but for years, I hid from what was killing me on the inside and it eventually started to show up on the outside. My book is my personal story, but it is the life of so many others. My goal is to bring awareness, and to say it’s okay to sit with yourself and seek out healing. That healing starts by acknowledging the pain is real, and you desire wholeness. Culturally we were taught counseling was for crazy people and to pray about it. I’m telling you they lied to us we all deserve healing, so we can move forward wholesomely. I’m convinced hurt people, hurt people, but I’m more convinced healed people, heal people. It’s not our fault in who hurt us in most cases, but it’s our responsibility to heal. We are somebody’s answer, so go and heal well.

I had the unique privilege of reading the great story Shebrews, of my dear sister Ieisha Gilliam. While I am inspired by the content I read, I am not surprised at the woman she has become, despite the horrifying pain she has experienced in her life, but has overcome. She is passionate about bringing healing to the individuals that share common experiences subjected, to poverty, physical abuse, and mental abuse just to name a few.

In closing, while I admitted that I am inspired through her writing, I have also benefited from some healing in my own way!
